I love this time of year, Easter is just around the corner, the atmosphere is filled with the revelation and Glory of the Lord. I am seeing more and more that my standing as a son before the Father, and the benefits of being a child of the King, has very little to do with me, but has everything to do with what Jesus has already done. What I mean is that if we take a good look at the cross what we begin to see is God redeeming His family back to Himself. This might seem a bit obvious to the mature Christian but let’s look a little deeper. What we see is God the processor of both heaven and earth, owner of everything, coming here to be stripped of everything, to rescue us (Save Us). The vision I get as I look upon the cross is God as Man, naked, stripped of everything except the crown of thorns, the one thing that needed to upon Him for our freedom to be secure. This Crown, which was made from THORNS is the very thing which represented the sign of the curse and needed to be removed before anyone can come back into fellowship and sonship with the Father. For we see in Genesis;
Gen. 3:17-18-Then to Adam He said “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you saying, you shall not eat of it, CURSED is the ground for your sake, in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life, both THORNS and THISTLES it shall bring forth for you…”
The very thorns which was the outward sign of the penalty of sin which brought the curse, was the very thing Jesus bore on the cross. The thorns which were here in the world only because of the curse, was the very thing fashioned into a crown and was the only thing that was upon His person as He hung their paying the penalty of the sin for the world. WOW, I see this as a sign to all in heaven, on Earth, and under the earth that Jesus our Kinsmen Redeemer, has redeemed (freed and purchased) us from sin and the penalty of sin, the curse.
Gal 3:13-14- “Christ Jesus has REDEEMED us from the CURSE of the law, HAVING BECOME A CURSE FOR US, (for it is written “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” ) 14-That the BLESSING of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles (That’s Me) in Christ Jesus.
I now begin to see it, it is the great exchange, Jesus became sin for me, Jesus bore my sin, the curse, and the penalty of my sin which is death upon Himself, He bore the curse of all that is evil and bad which came into the world after the fall of Adam to give me once again the BLESSING of Abraham, which is really the Blessing of man kind God spoke in Genesis 1:28.
I see clearly now what the apostle Paul meant in 1 Cor 2:7-8- “We speak wisdom the of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for OUR GLORY, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew, FOR IF THEY KNOWN, they would NOT HAVE CRUCIFIED THE LORD of glory”. If the devil would have known what he was doing by crucifying Jesus, the spotless lamb of God Who was about to bare upon Himself sin and reverse the curse for everyone forever, he NEVER would have crucified the Lord of Glory.
I will in my heart and choose to receive this day the redemption I have in the Blood of Jesus, that he has rescued me from the curse and has accepted me back into the beloved (Eph 1:6), that God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for me, that I might become the RIGHTEOUSNESS (made right with God) of God in Him (2Cor5:21).
